New York Comic-Con Special Report

We interrupt this stirring account of my time at the New York Comic-Con to bring you this special report.

It's amazing how much can go through your head in less than a second. For example:

"Fuck, where's the step? Freefall! Crap, foot going down fast... this is going to hurt. PAIN! I'm probably going to be limping the rest of the night now. PAIN! Can't... stay... standing! THUD! PAIN! God, I'm going to be limping all night. PAIN! Why does it still hurt? PAIN! WHY DOES IT STILL HURT???"

After several minutes of screaming due to the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life, an ambulance was called and eventually I ended up at St. Vincent's, though in mind I kept thinking "St. Elsewhere", even though I've never watched the show.

While we ([info]heehaw_tng and [info]corneredangel) were in the waiting room an old lady kept trying to escape out the door. Which wouldn't have been a problem, except that she was only wearing a hospital gown. When they finally wheeled me over to the examining area I got to sit there in the hallway where they had tied her to a gurney and she started yelling about how she had to pee. A nurse came over with a bedpan eventually but it didn't stop the bitching.

I had x-rays taken by a guy with a severe limp, and nothing was broken.

Needless to say, the guys were very amused when I finally came out. The end result of all this is that I have to stay off the foot, and am missing the rest of the con.

Suck.

Ugh. What exactly happened? It sounds like you twisted your ankle.

You're lucky the guys were there.

I had a misstep leaving a diner on 40th and 9th. I sprained my foot (not the ankle, though).

Yeah, if they weren't there I probably would have just tried to go home. O_o;;;

OUCH. Nothing worse than enforced bedrest. Ugh.

Too bad about the rest of the con. But at least it wasn't anything worse. Feel better soon.

Glad here your fine, but where were you?

Glad you are ok; but where are you? You didn't come by our table in artist alley.
